Frostburg State University Women’s Rugby is hiring an assistant coach for its NCAA Division II varsity program. The full-time position is located in Frostburg, Md., and meant to begin in July 2026. Base salary is nearly $45,000 (prorated for start date). Applications will continue to be accepted until the role is filled.

Frostburg State had fielded a women’s rugby club sports team before transitioning to varsity for the fall 2023 season. Jeff Horton was hired as the program’s first head coach and departed after the spring 2026 season. Former assistant coach John Baker is currently serving as interim head coach. The Bobcats compete in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association in Division II for fall 15s, and in National Collegiate Rugby for spring 7s. Job Description

Frostburg State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for a full-time contractual exempt Assistant Women’s Rugby Coach position to begin in July 2026. The starting Base Annual Salary is approximately $44,948, which is pro-rated based on the contract term.

The following benefits will be available on an annual basis:

• University System of Maryland Tuition Remission program
• Five (5) days of annual leave
• Specific Holidays
• Three (3) days of sick leave
• May participate in the State Health Insurance programs (medical, prescription and/or dental, etc.) that are available to State employees. Staff working 30 hours or more per week are eligible for the applicable state subsidy for medical and prescription coverage.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Head Coach will assist with coaching and supervision of the Women’s Rugby Team to include practice, gameday activities, budget management, academic monitoring and mentoring of student athletes, and assist in evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes. The assistant coach will also be responsible for conducting their program in accordance with all University System of Maryland, Frostburg State University, NCAA, and Conference Affiliate policies and procedures. This position requires early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as well as a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and one year of coaching or other related work experience. Previous competing experience at the collegiate level.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and/or two years of coaching experience. Familiarity with the East Coast high school girls’ rugby landscape, including players, programs, and competitive pathways.
