Club rugby update graphic

Last weekend saw another round of league playoffs, the ends of regular seasons, and berths awarded to USA Club Rugby Super Regional Championship (SRCs). The follow is updates made to the Division I and Division II graphic recaps from last weekend. For more detail and context, read the previous recap.

RELATED: Scores: April 4-7, 2024

DIVISION I

ATLANTIC SRC: No changes here. See previous update for details.

GULF COAST SRC: The Gulf Coast SRC now has its DI match: Houston AC vs. Utah Vipers. Houston beat Austin 55-3 on Saturday, clinching the Texas title. The Utah Vipers traveled to Denver Black Ice for a 30-14 win and clinched the Rocky Mountain title. The two face each other on May 4 in Austin, Texas, and the victor advances to the national semifinals.

NORTHERN SRC: No changes here. See previous update for details.

PACIFIC SRC:The SoCal/Southwest league held its final regular-season matches, and now two rounds of playoffs follow to name the champ. Higher seeds host this Saturday’s semifinals (below) and the championship will be April 20 at CSU Long Beach:

APRIL 13 SOCAL/SW SEMIS
#4 Santa Monica @ #1 San Diego
#3 Belmont Shore @ #2 Tempe

The SoCal/SW champ will play the Pacific Northwest — decided April 20, Seattle vs. ORSU — in the Pacific SRC, May 4, Las Vegas.

DIVISION II

ATLANTIC SRC: New England (NERFU) held its semifinals last Saturday:

#1 Albany 20-5 #4 Charles River
#2 Worcester 17-15 #3 Burlington

That means Albany and Worcester meet this Saturday, April 13 to determine the NERFU champ and rep to Atlantic SRC semifinals on April 20.

Although Phoenixville and Harrisburg had already secured spots in the EPRU final, last Saturday’s final regular-season game determined their final standings, and thus home-field advantage. White Horse won 67-14 and will host Harrisburg Saturday for the title and berth to Atlantic SRC semis.

Empire: No change. Union beat DII Morris handily in a friendly last Saturday.

Capital: No change. Severn River vs. James River final is this Saturday, April 13.

GULF COAST SRC: The Carolinas held its semifinals last weekend:

#1 Atlanta 2.0 63-3 #4 Savannah
#2 Charleston 33-19 #3 Charlotte

Atlanta and Charleston meet on April 20 in Gastonia, N.C., for the Carolinas final and berth to Gulf Coast SRCs.

No changes in Florida or True South. Their playoffs have been set.

Red River/Texas has set its semifinals (there’s one more league game this week but it won’t knock anyone out of the top four):

#1 Little Rock vs. #4 San Antonio
#2 Dallas Harlequins vs. #3 Houston

The double-header championship is April 20-21 in Houston, and the victor advances to the Gulf Coast SRC in Austin, May 4-5.

NORTHERN SRC: The St. Louis Sabres beat KC Jazz for a second time, 68-12, and secured the Mid-America seed to the Northern semifinals (May 4-5, Lemont, Ill.). No change with the two Midwest seeds, South Buffalo and Grand Rapids. Boulder leads the DII Rocky Mountain with one more league game to go.

PACIFIC SRC: Ventura beat Empire 86-5 in the final SoCal league match, and now the April 13 semifinals are set:

#4 San Luis Obispo @ #1 Los Angeles
#3 Santa Monica @ #2 Ventura

SoCal championships are April 20 at CSU Long Beach, and victors advance to Las Vegas (May 4-5) for Super Regionals.

No changes in Pacific Northwest, Southwest or NorCal, as the finalists have already been determined. Read more. However, an interesting result in NorCal, with the Sacramento Amazons beating Berkeley 31-17 in the team’s match. The rubber match is also the final and occurs April 20 in Santa Rosa. [APRIL 9 CORRECTION: NorCal will be decided by standings, not a 4/20 final. One more round of league play this weekend and champ will be named.]
