The USA Women’s National Team has announced a second summer fixture in the run-up to the Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2021, which is being played in October 2022 in New Zealand. On Aug. 27, the Eagles will face Scotland at DAM Health Stadium in Edinburgh. One week later, the USA travels to Exeter, England to face the Red Roses at Sandy Park.

The USA and Scotland last played each other in the 2006 RWC in Edmonton, Canada, and the Eagles won that 5th place match 24-0. The Dark Blues are of course a core member of the TikTok Six Nations, and although Scotland went 0-5 in that March-April tournament, three of those tests were single-digit decisions.

The Eagles have been on the pitch more recently, playing three tests in New Zealand for the June Pacific Four Series. The USA beat Australia, and lost to Canada and the Black Ferns.

“To host two quality sides such as USA and Spain as part of our Summer Test campaign will provide a fantastic opportunity for our squad to develop and grow ahead of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand,” Scotland Head Coach Bryan Easson told ScottishRugby.org.

“We thoroughly enjoyed playing in front of a record home crowd against England at DAM Health Stadium in April so hopefully we will have another great crowd to send-off the team to New Zealand at the two matches.”

The Sept. 3 test against England is the last-known match for the Eagles in their RWC preparation.
