USA RUGBY – Women’s Collegiate All-American XVs Head Coach Katie Dowty has named her match day roster to face the a WPL all-star team tomorrow evening at University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

The match is part of Women’s All Star Week, taking place August 1st and 3rd, which will bring together four teams including the All-Americans, Women’s Premier League East & West All Stars, as well as a D1/D2 All Star team.

On Day One, the WPL West and D1/D2 All Stars will play each other first, at 3 PM MT, followed by the All-American game. Losers from Day One will face off at 9:30 AM MT on Day Two, followed by winners from Day One at 11:30 AM MT. All matches are streamed LIVE on facebook.com/wplrugby with attendance free to all fans.

All 26 players named to the roster will have an opportunity to see playing time.

“The energy of the wider training squad has pushed our level of play throughout the week and made selections very competitive,” said Coach Dowty. “These players have some unique strengths that will give us the opportunity to play a very dynamic game. The experience of the WPL players will provide a great challenge – requiring sound fundamentals as well as creative and adaptive play. The All-Star Week is a wonderful opportunity for all the players involved and we are excited to see these young players show what they can do at this level.”

For years, the Women’s Collegiate All-American program has been an honor for selected athletes and an important stepping stone to the senior national team in XVs and 7s. The All-Americans rely on monetary support from the community to reduce or even completely cover assembly costs for players.
