Women’s Premier League Week Six is important. It’s the first round of rematches and will provide insight in to teams’ relative improvement and also strategies against a more familiar opponent. TRB will be on site for the Life West vs. Glendale match in San Francisco.

Early bird Glendale has posted its roster for the away game against Life West. Personnel wise, the pack is identical to the one that faced the Gladiatrix in week one, although Jeanna Beard and Joanna Kitlinski have swapped positions in the scrum. The back line, however, has returned only two starters – flyhalf Gabby Cantorna and outside center Juliann Tordonato – from that week one game, but Saturday’s 11-15 is identical to last week’s back line against ORSU.

The Gladiatrix haven’t fielded the same lineup in any match. Players like Catie Benson, Elizabeth Cairns, Nikki Kenyon, Sara Parsons and Leti Hingano have consistently featured in their relative positions, but other combinations are tested each week. Jennifer Sever, for example, has oscillated between No. 8 and center; Nicole Strasko has been in both the second and back rows; and the wings have seen many different faces. Elona Williams makes the starting lineup at wing for the first time this season. Despite the tests, it’s been working for the 4-0 Gladiatrix.

The only game Atlanta lost in the first half of the season was the opener against Beantown, and now the Harlequins have the benefit of a full roster. The lineup looks similar to the one against New York – the only home game Atlanta has had so far. The exception is Cortney Kuehl in the No. 8 spot, where she’s played most of the season (she played in the centers against New York). Gracie Martinez is in the reserves. There’s movement in the backs, with Kelli Smith getting the start at fullback and Lara Gartner moving up into the inside center position. She pairs with Shamira Robles in the centers.

Berkeley is on the road to ORSU this week. Players in the pack have all featured and started in their respective positions this season, so there’s solid familiarity there. Same goes for the backs, although it’s noteworthy that Evan Hoese isn’t traveling and Florence Gomez will fill the inside center role. Kristen Siano is also making a second-straight start at flyhalf. The reserves include a handful of players who could play their first WPL game of the season.

Most notably for ORSU, the home side is fielding a full 23 for the first time this season. Those late-game options will certainly help. Claire Lundy makes a first appearance this WPL season and pairs with San Juanita Fetuuaho in the centers. Fetuuaho has moved out from flyhalf, where Karissa Postula now resides. Miranda Mishan is also making a first start of the season and pushes Zoe Wilson from the second row to flanker.
