10 Rugby Teams Remain in ACRA Title Hunt

The American Collegiate Rugby Association (ACRA) has narrowed its championship field to 10 teams, as all five conferences know their finalists at this point in the season. Three conference championships are occurring this weekend and Rocky Mountain will hold its final on Nov. 13. The Rugby Northeast will determine seeds by standings points.

ACRA’s top-10 teams:

  • Mid-Atlantic: Temple University (Philadelphia, Pa.), Kutztown University (Kutztown, Pa.)
  • New England Wide: U.S. Coast Guard Academy (New London, Conn.), University of Vermont (Burlington, Vt.)
  • Rocky Mountain: Colorado School of Mines (Golden, Colo.) and Colorado Mesa University (Grand Junction, Colo.)
  • Rugby Northeast: Colby College (Waterville, Maine), St. Michael’s College (Colchester, Vt.)
  • Tri-State: Vassar College (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), Fairfield University (Fairfield, Conn.)

After the Nov. 6 conference championships, the Nov. 13 Wild Card round will pit the conference runners-up against each other. round Rugby Northeast and Tri-State conferences will play each other, and Mid-Atlantic and New England Wide will face off. The two victors will funnel into the quarterfinals.

On Nov. 20-21, all eight teams will report to Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for the quarterfinals and semifinals. The two undefeated teams from the weekend will head to Matthews, N.C., for the ACRA Fall Championship match on Saturday, Dec. 4.
