Activity in the Carolinas conference saw some movement in the bottom half of the DII Spring College Ranking this week.

Coastal Carolina had dropped a 26-5 decision to UNC Charlotte earlier this month but then rebounded with a 34-5 win over College of Charleston, which fell out of the top 12. The teams traded tries in the first half, and then Coastal pulled away in the second 40. Fullback Greer Rickett, lock Katie Connors, prop Sara Benzer, wing Fionnagh Krenzer and Adrienne Higgins scored tries, while outside center Autumn Roach kicked the conversions. Meanwhile, UNC Charlotte beat UNC Wilmington 46-22. Now the top-three teams in the conference all have one loss.

Salisbury, Alabama and Pittsburg State played friendly matches, while UN Reno took a forfeit win against CSU Monterey Bay. Cal Poly SLO, Long Beach State, UGA and William & Mary were all idle.

Claremont kept up its dominating ways in the Pacific Desert, shutting out UC Riverside 62-0. Prop Nana Esi Igyan, flanker Sophie Baker, No. 8 Maya Nichols, wings Molly Ferguson and Madeleine Masser-Frye (4), and reserve Robyn Collins all scored tries, and flyhalf Ali Parker kicked six conversions in the shutout win.

And finally, Eckerd College played its first league match in Florida and defeated Florida International 31-7. Sirens fullback Stephie Franz scored three tries, while inside center Chloe Root and wing Willow Jarvis added one apiece. No. 8 Madison Grubb kicked three conversions.
