The Women’s Premier League (WPL) wraps on the first half of the 2024 season with Week 8 and then enters summer break until July 13. Chicago North Shore is active as a competitive summer 7s program, but many WPL teams use this time as a real break, or to get the depth or summer-only players time, or see individuals align with other 7s programs. Crucially, there is no Premier Rugby 7s this summer, so there is an opportunity for real rest. (lead photo: Jasun Blocher)
Meanwhile, the USA Club 7s season continues with several series events across the country. And in the high schools, there are two all-star tournaments for girls’ teams: the Great Northwest Challenge in Montana, and a Tri-State tournament in Rye, N.Y. And the Midwest Thunderbirds wrap up their New Zealand tour with game day #4.
Next weekend is the U23 all-star 15s tournament, which will feature eight teams’ worth of collegians and club players.
