The Guilford College women’s rugby team formed in 2019 but that first fall was spent on the training pitch, and then Covid arrived in spring 2020. So when the Quakers played Newberry College last Saturday, those games marked the Quakers’ first-ever matches in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA). That benchmark also included a win, and it happened with a pretty unique squad that is committed to more “first ever”s in the future . . .
