There are two coaching positions available at NCAA varsity women’s rugby programs. Frostburg State University, which announced its addition of women’s rugby on Aug. 22, is seeking a head coach that will lead the Maryland team into the fall 2023 season. And Long Island University, a current DI member of the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA), seeks a part-time assistant coach to join recently hired head coach Joey Rasmus in Brookville, N.Y. FROSTBURG STATE WOMEN’S RUGBY
Head Coach, Full Time

Frostburg State University Athletics Department is seeking a full-time Head Women’s Rugby Coach for the FSU Bobcat Women’s rugby program. Salary based on qualifications and experience. This is a 12-month appointment which includes the robust University System of Maryland benefits package options.

Responsibilities:

The head women’s rugby coach position administers all aspects of the women’s rugby program.

The head coach position will manage and oversee the daily operations of the women’s rugby program including practice, gameday activities, recruiting, budget management, manage grant & aid, academic monitoring and mentoring of student-athletes.

The head coach will be expected to meet minimum roster goals through effective recruitment and retention strategies.

These student-athletes are expected to be successful in the classroom, socially responsible, and competitive within the Mountain East Conference and NCAA Division II.

Conduct assigned duties in accordance with all University System of Maryland, Frostburg State University, NCAA, and Conference Affiliate policies and procedures.

Other work-related duties as assigned.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to overall departmental philosophy and collaboration.

LONG ISLAND UNIV WOMEN’S RUGBY
Assistant Coach, Part Time

The position will assist the Head Coach of Women’s Rugby in all aspects of oversight and management of the intercollegiate Women’s Rugby program and the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Coach in all functions related to the scheduling and planning of all team meetings and practice sessions;
• Assist the Head Coach in all functions related to the scouting, video review, strategic preparation and game-plan execution for intercollegiate competitions;
• Recruit highly skilled student-athletes for the Women’s Rugby team;
• Coordinate necessary administrative duties in support of the Women’s Rugby program including, but not limited to, travel planning, budget management, ordering and distribution of equipment/apparel and planning of external program events;
• Work closely with Head Coach, athletic training, academic and student services, and athletic performance staffs to monitor the well-being, status and progress of student-athletes;
• Develop and implement programs to assist student-athletes in their transition into the college environment;
• Work with University Admissions and related staffs in the student-athlete recruiting process;
• Participate in other program related duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Two (2) years of collegiate rugby coaching experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills to effectively and appropriately evaluate and interact with student-athletes.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and a record of commitment to NCAA compliance.
