NCR Announces 2023-24 Championship Details

National Collegiate Rugby announced its full slate of championship events for the 2023-24 season, including the XVs National Championships, National 7s and All Star events.

NCR’s championship pathways provide opportunities for nearly 100 men’s and women’s XVs teams to compete in postseason play during the Fall, while over 120 men’s and women’s teams qualify for the National 7s championships in the Spring.

The January All-Star weekends are a unique opportunity for the best men’s and women’s players to challenge themselves against other elite players from across the country.

During the 2022-23, NCR’s popular championship events were attended by 15,000 fans and attracted 600,000 views.

WOMEN’S EVENTS

2023 XVs National Championship
December 2-3 • Houston, TX

The Road to Houston starts on November 10 and ends at the Houston Sabercats’ AVEVA Stadium over the weekend of December 2-3. With an expanded DII bracket this season, over 40 teams will qualify for the postseason across Small College, Division II and Division I.

The Championship Weekend starts on Saturday with the Small College and Division II National Semifinals followed by the Division I National Championship. Following a high-level bowl game on Sunday, the Small College and Division II National Champions will be crowned.

2024 All-Star 7s National Cup
January 20-21 • Austin, TX

The women’s All Star event will return to Round Rocks for a second year in a row. Representing conferences across the country, over 250 women will compete for the National Cup in the All Star and Small College divisions.

MEN’S EVENTS

2023 XVs National Championship
December 8-10 • Houston, TX

Hundreds of men’s college programs will have their eyes on Houston, where the men will return to play for a XVs National Championship across four divisions. Including play-ins matches, there will be over 50 teams participating in the national play-offs during regional events across the country.

Hosted once again by the Houston Sabercats, the three day Championship Weekend will start with the Small College and Division II National Championships on Friday, December 8. Saturday will feature three high-profile bowl match-ups followed by the Division I-AA and Division I National Championship games. The weekend wraps-up on Sunday with the Small College and Division II National Championship matches.

2024 National All-Star Shield Challenge
January 6-7 • Austin, TX

Over 300 of the top players will be at the Round Rocks Sports Center in early January to compete for the All Star Shield. The teams include eight regional All-Star teams along with several Rising Star sides that will form based on tryouts and nominations over the Fall season.

2024 Collegiate Rugby Championship – National 7s
April 26-28 • Washington, DC

The largest collegiate rugby tournament in America returns to the Washington, D.C., metro area on April 26-28. The Collegiate Rugby Championship crowns national 7s champions in eight men’s and women’s divisions. Following a successful, but rainy, first year at the Maryland SportsPlex, this popular event is expected to see thousands of fans attend the three-day festival and another packed stadium for the championship matches.
